My Story

On Sunday 23rd June Rowan will be running his first 5km road race at Long Course Weekend Wales, in memory of his beautiful Aunty Sharon.

Two years ago our lives were changed forever when Sharon lost her battle against Breast Cancer. As a family we saw first-hand how important it was  that Sharon was able to receive her chemotherapy treatment close to home, in a modern, fit for purpose unit at Withybush Hospital. So Rowan has decided to fundraise and give something back to the staff who cared for his Aunty Sharon which will enable the team to provide services and activities to patients that are above and beyond core NHS expenditure.

A new initiative that Rowan’s fundraising will go towards supporting is the new Heads Up! Cancer Hair Loss Support Service at Withybush Hospital. The “Heads Up!” initiative, provides a person-centred, holistic hair loss service for cancer patients. It brings together healthcare and haircare professionals from our local community to give patients the knowledge and products needed to manage their hair loss with dignity and choice. Hywel Dda University Health Board is the first in Wales to run this charity funded initiative to improve the patient experience of cancer-related hair loss.

Those who know Rowan will know he is a speedster, so he is going to have to train to pace himself past a 100 metre dash, to complete 5000 metres along the streets of Tenby.

Any pennies or pounds you are able to donate to encourage him off the Xbox and to put his trainers on will be greatly appreciated 😊
